I WISH I HAD WINGS

November 9, 2018 by San Quentin News Contributor

I wish I had wings

To escape from my cell

To tell you my friend

Don’t come onto hell.

I wish I had wings

To fly high above

where I can see angels

Surrounded with love

I wish I had wings

To know how it feels

when you fly above

The valley and the hills

I wish I had wings

Like one nightingale

But I have to live

Like one little snail.

My burden is heavy

And I walk slow

So is life in prison

And you have to know.

My burden is heavy

And times goes too slow

So you don’t break the law!
