“Right Here”

January 5, 2019 by San Quentin News Contributor

So where have I been all of these years?

In a desolate land population by men

The older the younger and many my peers

So many displaced faces, races, different types of cases

How am I living out my life sentence

Well it takes a whole lot of sanity and patience

Judge my words and see if I’m making it.

I’m sentences to life with the eligibility to find out who I am

Patience and faith gave me the ability to forgive, know why and understand

I overlook the lies, upset and chaos and negative plans

Avoiding strife, trading hatred to offer helping hand

Take not my kindness for weakness

But if I live for the world. Then know that I am at my weakest

Unerring vision, still changeless, mind set on the goal

Freedom from the inferno, the abyss, hade, abode

Abiding by the rule of life

A man with big dreams, a man way before prison

Giving up is deadly, giving in is senseless

I strive to continue on fueled by humbleness and discipline

So far so good, seven summers knock on wood

Thankful, head leveled, led by example, I could

So where have I been all of these years?

Right here, in prison seven years

Rather dre before I fear

Shedding hope instead of tears

Letting go of my want

And allowing God to do his will.
