It’s Our Custom

August 8, 2018 by San Quentin News Contributor

The birth of Christ we celebrate

On the lovely day called Christmas day.

It’s a time so full of joy

That we give gifts, often toys.

It’s our custom to hear mass,

Sing some songs and drink a glass.

Those we love we keep them near

To show them that they are so dear.

If it’s cold we huddle up.

We light a fire to warm up.

We tell stories of times long past. We sometimes cry, we sometimes laugh.

We leave the trouble of the world behind,

We’ll deal with them—but not a Christmas time;

For it’s a special time of the year,

It’s the time when Christ came here.
