The California News Publishers Association
(CNPA) announced its awards for 2022 and
recognized San Quentin News staff again.
The following print journalism awards
are for weekly and monthly newspapers
with circulation greater than
25,000 copies:
Marcus Henderson; second
place for his editorial on how
discussions of justice reform
and public safety are muddled
by dog-whistle politics.
Anthony Manuel Caravalho; third place for his profile of Brothers’
Keepers.
Clark Gerhartsreiter, contributing writer; third place for coverage of business and economy
with his article titled Prisoners feel pinch of skyrocketing prices.
Steve Brooks; third place for coverage of the 2022 elections in his article Candidates for
state assembly visit San Quentin media center.
