The soccer league’s opening game of the season started with an unexpected collision with the San Quentin Earthquakes.
Dario Abramsriehn, captain of the rival team, Outsiders, arrived with new reinforcements on the team, matching the SQ Earthquakes’ new additions.
The game started with both teams fighting for possession of the sphere, even though the two teams traded passes, neither team completed more than three passes in a row.
During the game, the visiting team gave some SQ residents an opportunity to play, which created additional intensity throughout the next 90 minutes of play.
Both teams attempted long shots and passes to open teammates, as it seemed impossible to score a goal.
The home team’s middle field players struggled to keep possession of the ball, as the visiting team scored the first two goals of the season, ending the first forty-minute half with a score of 2-0.
Incarcerated captains, Ronald Luna and Abramsriehn tried to fire-up their teams for the next half, but within the first few minutes, the visiting team rifled through a hole in the SQ Earthquakes’ defense scoring a goal in the second half.
As the Outsiders took a commanding 3-0 lead, they sent in reinforcements. A female headed to the middle field as the Outsiders, helping out the defense. At 15 minutes in the second half, it started to rain, making the ball harder to control. As time passed, the home team created several scoring opportunities, but luck was not with them.
The Outsiders proved unstoppable as they added four goals. The opening season ended with a crushing victory over the SQ Earthquakes. The final score was 7-0, Outsiders.
