On Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 11:00 am, San Quentin Rehabilitation Center held a Healthcare symposium in the Learning Center’s multipurpose room. The event was the third of its kind and was sponsored by California Correctional Healthcare System and the Peer Support Specialist program at the prison.
The symposium was hosted by SQ resident Michael Moore, and it had a motto of transparent access to healthcare. In attendance were approximately 60 residents, a host of SQ’s Healthcare, and custody personnel.
“We are an all-inclusive program,” Moore said, welcoming the Spanish-speaking and hearing-impaired community to the event.
SQ resident Alexander Parlato was called upon to welcome the audience with an informational rap song; he wooed the crowd with information on how to receive the maximum benefits of correctional healthcare.

The event’s main purpose was to explain the job of CCHCS such as, collaborations between outside and inside healthcare services, and SQ’s PSSP. The objective was to show transparency of accessing acute and chronic care, according to CCHCS.
SQ healthcare staff J. Robinson, SRN-III gave attendees an outlook on what is a primary care team. She stated that Primary Care Physician, PC Registered Nurse, managing providers such as Medical Assistant, and License Vocational Nurse all help with incarcerated persons healthcare.

Robinson stated that a new position was created in January 2026, titled RNCare Manager that assist with incarcerated persons appointment schedules. They are also responsible for ensuring that new arrivals at SQ get continued care. All I/Ps will have an annual wellness visit around the time of their birthday.
Robinson added how the triage system works, whether a person’s medical concerns are urgent or not. On the jumbo screen there was information that stated in 2025 83-84% of incarcerated persons received immunizations, which also included that 86% of incarcerated adults received cancer screening. The event ended with a skit that showed an example of the consequences of violating the Title 15 rules for not reporting to calls and passes concerning Medical, Mental Health, and Dental Care. An additional skit encourage I/Ps to sign up for healthcare evaluations when they have symptoms of healthcare issues, by using the 7362 medical request form.
